Fragments

2013

This work explores the tension between geometric sheets; I explore ways to combine the sheets in new methods and new compositions.

The sheets are applied with enamel in white and red shades, and all other metal is oxidized. The colors contrast, and the joining elements contrast with the smooth shiny enamel sheets.

Firing the enamel oxidized the copper sheets, and in during the process I work with unclean and oxidized surfaces. This process creates inclusions of metal in the enamel layers, green patina, and increases the depth and rich textures.

Winning work, Leah Kaplan Prize for Enamel, 2013.

Enamel, sterling silver, copper, steel screws.
