Friction (n) a resistance encountered when one body moves relative to another body with which it is in contact.

The olive tree is a meaningful symbol in Mediterranean cultures and a significant source of income in agricultural communities. For many years, it represented life and land for both Jewish and Arab cultures, which to this day live the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In this series of brooches, I try to offer a way to carry the idea of life and land; the painted, preserved olive branches are held by the brooch mecanism as a museum artifact.
